Kerry Roop

KerryKerry Roop began studying Tae Kwon Do forty-one years ago after seeing his first kickboxing match and all these years later it is still his greatest passion and desire to share his knowledge and skills with others. Six years later, at the age of 27, Kerry opened his first Tae Kwon Do school in Rochester; for 35 years he has been serving Rochester families and the surrounding communities while raising his own family.

A devoted and loving father of four children, all of whom hold Black Belts in Tae Kwon Do, and the grandfather three grandchildren, Kerry has long held the philosophy that it is better to build children then repair adults. This philosophy can be seen in the careful methodology and approach taken in the instruction and teaching of his students.

All Superkicks classes are dedicated not only to the basic skills and mastery of Tae Kwon Do, but to growing the whole person. The mind, body and spirit are developed as one, creating a balance, peace and harmony in his students that provides them with the understanding of self, which in turn leads to self-confidence and empowerment, which in turn helps in achieving excellence in everything they do in life.

The philosophy of Tae Kwon Do is about becoming one with the universe: living in harmony with your surroundings and yourself. If you’re not at peace with your environment or emotions then you shield yourself from your inner and outer worlds. You stop listening to your body and repress your feelings. It’s when this balance falls is non-existent or out of sync that various health, emotional and weight problems arise.

The art of Tae Kwon Do begins with the willingness of each individual to work with Mr. Roop to develop the positive character, moral and ethical traits building a solid foundation for life. It’s the physical, mental and spiritual effort that each student invests in that makes the goal of Black Belt attainable and worthwhile.
